Prisum Healthcare, 25 years of activity in the pharmaceutical industry in Romania June 2019

"It is so heartwarming to be able to encompass you all at a glance. I would like to hug you, if only I had hands like those in the cartoons, which can grow longer, so that I would hug you and thank you all for the time you chose to give us, to the Prisum Healthcare team. " said Carmen Ivan, General Manager. 

"If I were to tell you about Prisum Healthcare, I would like to invite you on a 3-minute trip, a personal journey that started 25 years ago, although at times I may be sentimental… I thought today, beyond the fact that we are celebrating 25 years of existence, we are also celebrating a long-term friendship with everyone present here. I think parties, if you've ever thought about it, are actually a pretext for celebrating friendship. Because, otherwise, how could you celebrate yourself? It would not be as pleasant at all.

25 years ago, in 1994, when there was no Internet or Google, a fact we find very hard to believe today, when a phone call was possible only on landline phones and public phones had cards, I don’t know if you remember, in a summer as cool as this, I had the courage, together with a partner, to set up the Prisum Healthcare company. I remember very accurately when we visited the office of a lady lawyer from Calea Moșilor, we signed the documents and then we thought «Ok, what do we do now?».

Just as vivid in my memory is the first import, the stack of boxes we imported, no less than 40,000 bottles. Our plan was to sell them in 6 months, but we managed to sell these products in just two months and the largest quantity was taken by a distributor you may still remember, Montero. I think many of you remember it.

Of course, over the years, I have often thought about what was it that I, a simple, ordinary human being who, as a child, wished to do something to help people, got where I am today. I have always believed I had the resources I needed to be able to make the people around me happy. Yet, I prepared myself for Architecture, only to find myself, in the end, graduating from the Economics Faculty and become an orderly economist.

And yet, what made me take this path of health, this path I am today on, together with a team that helped me spread the wings of my dreams? Asking myself, I realized I actually had two reasons «why». What exactly helped me to achieve this? George Bernard Shaw said that anyone with a strong «why» will know «how» to do the things. And I think that's what happened to me, too.

My first «why» is related to my childhood. I had the chance to have in my life a very strong source of inspiration, my grandmother. My grandmother was a medical professional and often when I was a kid she would take me to the Witting hospital. It is a hospital located on Calea Plevnei, nearby the Northern Railway Station. We were visiting the resuscitation room, as much as we were allowed, because she used to work there for many years. At home, she used to tell me so much about night guards, about treatments, diagnoses, with a kind of pride of success for the things she had done. At the same time, during the holidays when we went to the countryside, I used to be a kind of a nurse for all the patients my grandmother was seeing, who came from over 3 villages to be consulted and treated by her, because she was highly appreciated.

A second «why» is related to what I see in Romania. I have said it before and I want to say it again: I have always dreamed of a beautiful Romania, with worthy, educated and honest people. I think this Romania exists, but sometimes we have no power to see it anymore. I believe it exists because I, and I am sure that you, too, have met honest, worthy and educated people. I had the chance to meet them at hand: sometimes in the person of my co-workers, sometimes in partnership relationships, sometimes in the doctors we collaborate with, in the pharmacists we collaborate with and even among the authorities. These people, even though they may not have used the same words as me, wanted to be better every day, to carry out their tasks with dedication and fulfilled their role at the right time, supported me and helped me. They encouraged me to grow so that today I have the opportunity to celebrate together with you 25 years of Prisum Healthcare, deeds and achievements.

25 years ago, I invited you and your colleagues to discover the effectiveness of herbal treatments from Himalaya. Along the way, we discovered together the benefits of other products from established manufacturers. I am referring to CSL Behring, PharmaLinea, Vitabiotics, companies which we have strong partnerships with and which have helped us to grow in these 25 years.

I would like to conclude and in the end I want to thank you for all these years spent together, for the confidence you have given us and I want to make a commitment in front of you that I will continue to strive, along with all my colleagues to my team, to bring quality products and build long-lasting relationships, which means long-term safety and trust, so that we can hope for that better Romania.
